How DNA Mutation works
A Solana meme-token launchpad built on Meteora DBC where every token has a genome that rewrites itself every 24 hours.
Overview
- 01Launch
Create a token in one transaction. It starts on a DBC bonding curve as a Token-2022 mint with the DNA Gate hook — and starts Neutral.
- 02Trade
Every curve trade goes through the DNA Router, which charges the current phase fee and records epoch stats on-chain.
- 03Mutate
Every 24h the program reads the epoch and mutates the token into Bull, Neutral or Bear — new fees and new vault behaviour for the next 24h.
The three phases
Neutral Strain
Base fees. The vault quietly accumulates SOL.
Bull Mutation
Low fees. The vault buys back and burns in tranches.
Bear Mutation
Sell surcharge. The vault absorbs large dumps.
Mutation rule
At the end of each 24h epoch the program evaluates the epoch in this exact order. Bear is checked first — the defensive mode wins ties. The quiet-market floor stops a couple of dust trades from flipping the phase.
- 1. if buy + sell volume < 1 SOL → NEUTRAL (market asleep)
- 2. else if sell volume > buy volume, or price ≤ −10% this epoch → BEAR
- 3. else if buy volume ≥ 1.15× sell volume, or unique buyers ≥ 1.2× unique sellers → BULL
- 4. else → NEUTRAL
Volumes are measured in SOL before the router fee. Unique wallets only count trades of at least 0.05 SOL. The price change compares the pool price now with the price at the start of the epoch. Each token page shows a live Projected next phase computed with this same rule.
Fees
| Phase | Buy | Sell | Router (buy / sell) | DBC pool |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| NEUTRAL | 3.00% | 3.00% | 2.75% / 2.75% | 0.25% |
| BULL | 1.50% | 1.50% | 1.25% / 1.25% | 0.25% |
| BEAR | 3.00% | 5.00% | 2.75% / 4.75% | 0.25% |
| Graduated (DAMM v2) | 3.00% | 3.00% | — | fixed pool fee |
| Recipient | Share | Of turnover (Neutral) |
|---|---|---|
| DNA Vault (buyback & burn, Floor Guardian) | 50.00% | 1.50% |
| Auto-LP reserve | 16.67% | 0.50% |
| Dev (token creator) | 16.67% | 0.50% |
| Platform | 16.66% | 0.50% |
- The Bear sell surcharge (2.00% = 5.00% − 3.00%) goes 100% to the DNA Vault — it is the Floor Guardian’s fuel.
- Router fees are taken in SOL: from the input on buys, from the output on sells.
- Of the 0.25% DBC pool fee, Meteora keeps 20% (0.05% of turnover); the rest is harvested back into the same split.
DNA Vault
DNA Accelerator · Bull
Budget = 50% of the vault at mutation time, executed in 12 tranches every 2 hours with on-chain min-out. Bought tokens are burned immediately. One trade can never sandwich the whole budget, and buy pressure is spread across the day. Unspent budget is not carried into the next phase.
Floor Guardian · Bear
Budget = 50% of the vault. On the curve, a sell of at least max(0.5 SOL, 1% of pool reserve) is answered inside the same instruction: the vault buys back 30% of the sell’s SOL output (max 10% of the budget per event). Atomic — no sandwich. Tokens are held in inventory, not burned.
Accumulating · Neutral
Base fees, and the vault simply accumulates its 50% share of every fee, ready for the next Bull or Bear mutation.
Why curve trades go through the DNA Router
A Meteora DBC pool’s fee is fixed when the pool is created, so a dynamic 1.5% / 3% / 5% fee is impossible with DBC alone. DNA Mutation creates the pool with the minimum 0.25% fee and charges the rest of the mutation fee in its own router program.
Every token is a Token-2022 mint with the DNA Gate transfer hook. Token-2022 calls the hook on every transfer; if one side of the transfer is the DBC pool vault, the transfer is only allowed when the router armed the gate in the same instruction. Result: nobody can buy or sell on the curve around the router — mutation fees are enforced for everyone, not just a discount on our website. Wallet-to-wallet transfers are never affected.
The router is permissionless: any bot, terminal or aggregator can call it.
Graduation
When the curve collects 85 SOL, the final swap removes the transfer hook from the mint and the pool migrates to Meteora DAMM v2 with a fixed 3.00% pool fee. 100% of the LP is locked forever on the token’s PDA; LP fees are claimed into the same split.
From then on the token trades freely everywhere (Jupiter, terminals). Mutations continue and keep steering the vault (Accelerator / Floor Guardian) — but they no longer change the trading fee. Token pages show this honestly as “Graduated: fixed 3.00%”.
FAQ
Who triggers a mutation?
Anyone. The mutate_dna instruction is permissionless once the epoch timer runs out. Our keeper cranks it every 30 seconds, but if it is ever late the epoch is simply longer and the next boundary is the nearest future one.
Can the team fake the phase?
Not on the bonding curve: every trade goes through the DNA Router, which records buy/sell volume, unique wallets and the starting price on-chain. The phase is computed by the program itself. After graduation the keeper reports volumes, but the −10% price check always reads the DAMM v2 pool on-chain.
Why can’t I trade on the bonding curve from Axiom / GMGN / Photon?
The DNA Gate transfer hook only allows pool transfers armed by the DNA Router in the same instruction, so mutation fees apply to everyone. The router is permissionless — any bot or aggregator can integrate it. After graduation the hook is removed and the token trades anywhere.
Is there anti-snipe protection?
There is no delay: the creator’s dev buy happens in the same transaction that creates the token, so nobody can front-run it. After that, trading is open to everyone.
Can the admin withdraw the DNA Vault?
No. Vault SOL can only be spent on buybacks (Accelerator) or floor support (Guardian) within on-chain budget and interval limits. Even closing a launch (sunset) sends the remaining vault into a final buyback and burn.
How are unique wallets counted?
Only trades of at least 0.05 SOL count, to resist dust sybils. On the curve, uniques are estimated on-chain with linear counting over a 4,096-bit bitmap per epoch.
